DeKalb-Peachtree grew from Army and Navy land into Georgia's second-busiest airport, a hub for business jets and general aviation.
Airliners and cargo flights within 25 nm of PDK. Routes come from a community database matched on flight numbers, so a few will be wrong or out of date. Flights without a route are marked "est." and judged from altitude and climb or descent.
History
Part of the airport sits on the old Camp Gordon, a World War I Army training base. It also occupies the original site of Naval Air Station Atlanta, which operated from 1942 to 1959. After the Navy left, the field became a DeKalb County government department.
The airport describes itself as the second-busiest in Georgia, behind only Hartsfield-Jackson, and has averaged about 230,000 operations a year for more than thirty years. It has four runways, each over 5,500 feet, on 765 acres. The FAA completed a 130-foot control tower there in 1988, and Muhammad Ali arrived in 1996 to light the Olympic torch.
